Betrayal trauma can occur within a relationship when the actions of another violate the trust on which the relationship was built. The experience of profound and unexpected betrayal can be deeply traumatic. We understand you are going through one of the most difficult experiences of your life. Your trust and belief in the person closest to you has been shattered. To be deceived and manipulated by someone you love can leave you feeling humiliated and deeply wounded. Many blame themselves. You are not to blame. You did not cause it or create it – but you can heal from it.
WHAT ARE BETRAYAL TRAUMA SYMPTOMS? The trauma evoked by betrayal in a relationship can manifest in the following ways:
Addictions
Depression
Anxiety

Hyper-vigilance that can manifest in self-protective behaviors like doing “detective work” (checking bills, wallets, computer files, phone apps, browser histories, etc.)
Sleeplessness, nightmares, difficulty focusing
